![]() If you are interested, see my beamer.latex template and the Makefile I used to generate the PDF slides. It took me some time, however, to get the definitive look-and-feel that I was looking for. This way, I was able to focus on the content rather than the layout. Initially, I used a combination of Pandoc and a custom Beamer template to process a set of Markdown files (with a bit of pure LaTeX instructions, though). In what follows, I will use some materials I wrote for a training in Biostatistics with R. It is something to consider if you are happy with Keynotes or Beamer. Unlike Pandoc, it is a paid application (available on the AppStore). In fact, Deckset is better described as a presenter not an authoring tool. Any editor that supports Markdown editing (well, basically all text editors) can be used, which means that I can write in Emacs. Slides are rendered as you type your Markdown slides, which is pretty handy, and figures can be displayed in different manner (fit to screen, left- or right-aligned, filtered, or at a specific % of the original size). The idea of Deckset is that you write simple Markdown (like when using Pandoc) and slides are formatted using gorgeous themes. You can also place steamgrid, and the games folder on a USB thumb drive and run it directly from the thumb drive. Now that I upgraded to Mavericks (OS X 10.9), I decided to give a try to Deckset which I mentioned in a previous post on Markdown and slideshow. You will see if going over all the games in your library and seeing if you have (custom) images for those apps and games. ![]() The path of the window will be set to the folder we just right clicked in. This should open a transparent black window in a program called Konsole. Right click (left trackpad or left trigger) on an empty space inside the window of that folder and choose "Open Terminal" Open the folder which contains steamgrid and the games folder. These parts all need to be performed on the Steam Deck in desktop mode. You can need to open a terminal program to run that steamgrid file. ![]() Running Steamgrid Now comes the trickier part. You can now move the files to the steam deck, to a USB flash drive or just do nothing if they are already on the Steam Deck. If you've done all this you are now ready to run steamgrid. You can find this on .įor the different kinds of images you append. For games downloaded from Steam (if they don't have nice artwork or if you want custom artwork) it's best to use the Game ID. Move all the images you've downloaded into the games folder and name them what the game or program is called in the stream interface. However if a game is already available on Steam, but you installed in through a different launcher, you can also download the official artwork from. Open a browser and go to scroll down to the first "Assets" and download steamgrid_linux.zip.Įxtract the zip wherever you want, it should create 2 folders, games and overlays by category and one file called steamgrid.įind the art you want to use on Steam Deck, for the best results you will need 4 different types of images: hero, banner, cover and logo. You can also do these steps on a Mac or PC, but you will need to transfer the files to the Steam Deck somehow. Go into the desktop mode of the Steam Deck. I had to write this on mobile, but my plans were changed and I suddenly had access to a desktop, so let me make it more detailed step by step.
